Confidence Hack For Top Performers #shorts

Erik Domínguez September 11, 2023 2:48 pm

The difference between confidence and arrogance lies in a fine line of INTENTION.

Confidence is a powerful trait that empowers individuals to believe in their abilities and pursue their goals with determination. It involves a genuine sense of self-assurance, allowing us to navigate challenges and embrace growth. Research has shown that confident people often possess a servant mindset, ready to serve others and make a positive impact. 🌟🔍

However, it's crucial to recognize the danger of crossing over into arrogance. 😮🚫 Arrogance arises when individuals prioritize their own desires and ego above all else, neglecting the needs and perspectives of others. Arrogant behavior sabotages meaningful connections and hinders personal and collective growth.

In this video, we showcase the importance of fostering a humble and empathetic approach, where confidence is intertwined with the willingness to serve others. Genuine confidence should empower us to uplift those around us, fostering collaboration and fostering a positive environment. 🌟🤝

The Fine Line Between Confidence and Arrogance

Erik Domínguez August 16, 2023 8:37 am

If you are a speaker, you shouldn't fear audience rejection.

We all have critics, but what if I told you that you could turn them into your personal coaches? 🎯 Yes, that's right!

1️⃣ Firstly, I explore the concept that feedback, by its nature, is neutral – it's us who attach emotions to it. Sometimes we react to the emotions we think the feedback contains, rather than the feedback itself. Get ready to learn how to detach your emotions from the feedback you receive. 😌

2️⃣ Secondly, I discuss the fact that effective speakers are constantly in demand for feedback. They realize that feedback, even when it stings, is a necessary step towards improvement. So, buckle up to understand why not all feedback should make you flinch! 💪

3️⃣ Lastly, I delve into the importance of repetitive feedback. If multiple people say the same thing about your work, even if it's harsh, there might be a grain of truth in it. It's like the universe is screaming, "Pay attention to this!" 🧐

🧪 Our discussion is backed up by scientific research and studies, which we'll cite throughout the video, so you'll have more than just our word to go on. 📚

As I share my thoughts, experiences, and findings with you, I invite you to join the conversation. Drop a comment, share your experiences, or give us a thumbs up if you find this video helpful! Remember, it's all about making you a better, more fearless speaker and performer. 🗣️🎙️

Embrace your journey, ignore the naysayers, and let's turn those critics into coaches! 💼🎩🥊

How To Deal With Audience Rejection and Feedback

The Only Public Speaking Rule That Matters

Erik Domínguez August 3, 2023 10:04 am

Speakers must care about their off-stage presence as much as their on-stage performance. In this video, I address three key elements of a speaker’s off-stage presence.

First, I debunk a myth: public speaking is not a 'performance.' It goes far beyond your time on stage. Citing the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, I highlight how our off-stage authenticity, how we interact and behave outside the speech, significantly affects our audience's perception of us (Hahl, Kim, & Zuckerman Sivan, 2018). 🕵️‍♀️📚💡

But the journey doesn't stop there. I discuss the concept of ethos, your credibility as a speaker. With insights from the Journal of Communication, I demonstrate how our off-stage persona and actions crucially contribute to our credibility, often more than what we portray on stage (Meyer, Marchionni, & Thorson, 2010). 🎭👀🏅

Finally, let's talk about practice what you preach. Referencing work by Professor Jim McNamara from the University of Technology Sydney, I emphasize the necessity for speakers to embody the messages they deliver, both in their public and private lives. This consistency is key to reinforcing our message and strengthening connections with the audience (McNamara, 2019). 👏📖💯

Ready to truly inspire your audience and make an unforgettable impact? This video is for you! Let's explore the power of our off-stage presence together and start living our messages, on and off the stage! 🚀🔥🌟

Why Speakers Must Care About Their Off-Stage Presence

Being “unstoppable” is a confidence killer for leaders.

Yes, you readit right! Being unstoppable isn't always the ticket to success as it's often portrayed 🚫🏆.

In this video, I'm explore how this 'unstoppable' mentality can inadvertently lead to significant leadership problems.

First off, I'll discuss how the 'unstoppable' mindset creates a false and unsustainable standard for us leaders to follow 🎯💔. As a leader myself, I've experienced the pitfalls of striving for this relentless ambition. (Source: "The Downside of Being Competent" - Harvard Business Review, 2022)

Next, I'll dive into how this mindset can create leaders who are unwilling to listen, putting us at risk of missing crucial feedback and essential learning opportunities 🙉🎧 (Source: "The Listening Crisis: How to Relearn the Art of Listening" - Forbes, 2023).

Lastly, I'll reveal how this 'go-go-go' mentality can force us into a rushed state of leadership, where decisions are made hastily, often without considering long-term implications ⏱️💨 (Source: "The Perils of Rushed Decisions in Leadership" - Stanford Business Review, 2023).

So, tune in, take a pause from your 'unstoppable' journey, and let's explore how to be the best leader we can be! 🔍👥

Criticism and Judgment: A Self-Defense Mechanism #shorts

Erik Domínguez July 18, 2023 9:54 am

Most communication conflicts come from criticism of what we don't understand. In this video, we explore the crucial role of empathy in effective communication. 🤝

Here's what we cover:
02:19 - Understanding Empathy
03:37 - Empathy in Communication Theory
04:46 - Don't Criticize What You Don't Understand

We delve into communication theory, citing works like Markova and Legerstee's 'Handbook of Jealousy' and Gudykunst's 'Bridging Differences: Effective Intergroup Communication,' to understand how empathy can lead to better understanding and less harmful criticism. 📚🔍

We also discuss the intersection of empathy and criticism, explaining how understanding others' perspectives can make our criticism more constructive and less harmful. 😌👍

Real-life examples are used to illustrate the transformative power of empathy in our communication and relationships. 🌍💫 Plus, we provide practical tips to enhance your empathy skills. 💪📝

The main idea we want you to take away is this: "Don't criticize what you don't understand." Before you criticize, take a moment to empathize and understand. This simple step can make your criticism more effective and less harmful. 🚫❌

Whether you're looking to improve your personal relationships, professional interactions, or simply want to become a better communicator, this video is for you! 🌟🎯

Empathy: The Key Ingredient for Effective Communication

Erik Domínguez July 12, 2023 12:08 pm

Do you ever feel like you're not as competent as others perceive you to be? 😟 That you're a fraud, and it's only a matter of time before everyone finds out? Well, you're not alone. 😌 This video debunks the universally experienced phenomenon known as Imposter Syndrome.

🔍 In this video, I dive deep into three main talking points:

1️⃣ Imposter Syndrome is something everyone experiences. Yes, you read that right - EVERYONE. From students to CEOs, imposter feelings don't discriminate. 😮 I delve into research showing that a staggering 70% of people experience these imposter feelings at some point in their lives. 📚

2️⃣ Imposter Syndrome is not just about personal fears. It is also a societal construct that can hold entire populations back, particularly marginalized groups. 😢 I look at how systemic bias and representation issues exacerbate these feelings in certain communities. ⚖️

3️⃣ Did you know that all leaders should feel a bit of fear as they lead? 😱 Counterintuitive, right? But a little fear keeps leaders humble, open to learning, and on their toes. 🧠 I explore how successful leaders channel this fear into motivation and continuous improvement. 🚀

So, don't let Imposter Syndrome define you. 😤 Tune into our video and learn the truth about it - understand it, face it, and ultimately, rise above it! 💪

Are To-Do Lists Adding To Your Procrastination? #shorts

Erik Domínguez July 3, 2023 1:20 pm

Ever found yourself lost in a sea of words, struggling to get your point across? Or perhaps you've been on the receiving end of a conversation that just seems to go on and on... 🔄

How do you stop rambling and practice the art of brevity?

In this video, we're using science-backed techniques to get to the point and exploring cognitive psychology to help you level up your communication skills. 🧠💬

Here’s what we cover:

0:48 UNDERSTAND WHY WE RAMBLE
4:20 UNDERSTAND HOW RAMBLING IMPACTS OUR AUDIENCE
6:45 UNDERSTAND HOW TO LIMIT YOUR RAMBLING

We will introduce Information Processing Theory, a concept that likens the human mind to a computer, processing information in three main stages: encoding, storage, and retrieval. 🖥️🔄

But how does this relate to rambling? 🤔 Rambling often happens when we try to communicate too much information at once. Our brains can only process a limited amount of information at a time, a concept known as 'Miller's Law'. George Miller, one of the pioneers of Information Processing Theory, found that the average number of objects an individual can hold in their working memory is about seven. 🧮

Understanding this can help us become more concise communicators. 🎯 By limiting the amount of information we try to convey at once, we can make it easier for others to process our message.

We'll also discuss the concept of 'chunking', a technique that has been shown to improve memory and understanding. 🧩 A study by Bower and Clark in 1969 found that participants who used chunking were able to remember more items than those who didn't.

So, if you're ready to stop rambling and start communicating more effectively, this video is for you! 🚀 Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more psychology and communication insights! 👍💖🔔

🔮Can introverts be public speakers? In this video, titled "Public Speaking Mindsets for Introverts," we are diving deep into the world of introverts and public speaking. 🎤 If you've ever felt anxious or overwhelmed about speaking in front of an audience, this video is a must-watch for you. 🎥

TESTIMONIALS

Dylan White

“Working with Erik individually has been a wonderful experience. He still impresses me with his skill, not only as a speaker but as a coach too. I never had a professional coach before Erik, and honestly, I wasn’t sure how much I would benefit. Erik showed me what coaching can be and probably should be. More to the point, he showed me what I’m capable of.”

“I was hoping to become a more confident speaker. And working with Erik, I 100% did. But what I didn’t expect from the process was to become a more honest speaker. Prior to working with Erik, I’d spoken in front of hundreds of people and performed in front of thousands, speaking on a stage wasn’t a fear or obstacle for me, but speaking honestly and bringing my whole heart and soul to the stage was. I knew what it felt like to be a successful speaker. Now, thanks to Erik, I know what it feels like to be an honest speaker and how much more impactful that is.”
