Storytelling Hack: Turn Everyday Moments Into Memorable Stories

Erik Domínguez January 6, 2025 5:36 pm

The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek. This keynote speech, presented at the @NAMICommunicate Iowa 2024 Annual Mental Health Conference, shares my philosophy of viewing mental health as both a journey and an adventure.

Like any great adventure, navigating mental health requires tools, resilience, and the courage to face unexpected challenges. It’s rarely easy, and often, the first step feels impossible. This talk offers a glimpse into my personal journey, the tools I’ve gathered, and the lessons I’ve learned while navigating some of the darkest moments in my life.

While I am not a doctor, counselor, or mental health professional, I hope my story resonates with you and reminds you that even in the most difficult of times, even in the most difficult of journeys, we can endure the darkness and find our treasure.

“Working with Erik individually has been a wonderful experience. He still impresses me with his skill, not only as a speaker but as a coach too. I never had a professional coach before Erik, and honestly, I wasn’t sure how much I would benefit. Erik showed me what coaching can be and probably should be. More to the point, he showed me what I’m capable of.”

Keirstin Heitman

“I was hoping to become a more confident speaker. And working with Erik, I 100% did. But what I didn’t expect from the process was to become a more honest speaker. Prior to working with Erik, I’d spoken in front of hundreds of people and performed in front of thousands, speaking on a stage wasn’t a fear or obstacle for me, but speaking honestly and bringing my whole heart and soul to the stage was. I knew what it felt like to be a successful speaker. Now, thanks to Erik, I know what it feels like to be an honest speaker and how much more impactful that is.”
