The Enneagram: Benefits and Beyond

THE ENNEAGRAM IS A TOOL THAT AWAKENS OUR COMPASSION FOR PEOPLE JUST AS THEY ARE, NOT THE PEOPLE WE WISH THEY WOULD BECOME SO OUR LIVES WOULD BECOME EASIER.

UNLOCKING EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION THROUGH THE ENNEAGRAM

Ennea-what? It’s okay.

I couldn’t pronounce it correctly, either.

For lack of better words, the Enneagram is a personality assessment, but in reality, it is much more than that.

Here’s Why It Matters: The Enneagram differs from other personality assessments because it goes beyond simply identifying a person’s traits or behaviors. Instead, it provides a comprehensive framework for understanding the underlying motivations, fears, and desires that drive our behaviors.

By exploring the Enneagram types, individuals can better understand themselves and others, leading to more effective communication, stronger relationships, and personal growth

Additionally, unlike other assessments, the Enneagram recognizes that people are complex and multifaceted, and each individual has unique strengths and challenges based on their Enneagram type.

This is a tool that unlocks a lot of personal and professional development but also gives us key insights into how we communicate, where our communication is likely to fail, and how we can improve our communication by addressing our core motivations.

I am passionate about the Enneagram, especially when I coach others in communication confidence because the tool stretches your growth zones. It also gives you an awareness you can’t find anywhere else.

MIC CHECK: THREE WAYS THE ENNEAGRAM IMPROVES YOUR COMMUNICATION

1. Understand Your Communication Style: The Enneagram identifies nine distinct personality types, each with strengths, weaknesses, and communication styles. By learning your Enneagram type, you can gain valuable insights into your preferred communication style, including your tendencies to communicate assertively or passively, how you express your emotions, and how you deal with conflict. This self-awareness can help you become a more effective communicator by identifying areas for improvement and playing to your strengths.

2. Empathize with Others: The Enneagram is also an excellent tool for understanding the communication styles of those around you. By recognizing the Enneagram types of your colleagues, friends, and family, you can develop empathy and understanding for their communication styles, including their preferred communication methods and how they react to different situations. This can help you tailor your communication to their needs, making it more effective and reducing misunderstandings.

3. Resolve Conflict: Conflict is an inevitable part of any relationship; however, by understanding the Enneagram types of those involved, you can identify the underlying causes of the disagreement and communicate more effectively to resolve it. For example, some Enneagram types may need time to process their thoughts before responding, while others may prefer to address the issue immediately. Recognizing these differences and adjusting your communication style accordingly can help facilitate a mutually beneficial resolution.

Then There Was The Time Posting About The Enneagram On Social Media Changed My Life.

I will now reference an obscure late 1998 film starring Gwyneth Paltrow. If you haven’t seen it, I don’t blame you. It is not one of her more popular films, but it is undoubtedly memorable.
