Then There Was The Time I Had A Meltdown In A Tesla…

THEN THERE WAS THE TIME I HAD A MELTDOWN IN A TESLA

I got in late. Like, very late.

Look, I try to be in bed by 9:30 or 10:00. Anything past that, and I am a MESS of a human being.

I got in around 11:30. It took forever to get my luggage. And it took forever and forever to get my rental car. It was one of those late evenings where only one person was working the counter, and he was new. I know that sounds made up, but it isn’t. The poor guy was so stressed.

Two more facts about this night:

  1. I did not get out of the airport in my rental car until about 1:15 am.
  2. They had run out of cars, so they put me in a Tesla.

Now, I know. Some of you would be SO excited about this. I was not. In fact, here is my actual inner dialogue.

Okay, finally. Let’s go. Okay…how do you turn this on? [nervous chuckle]. No, really, how do you turn this on? Oh, okay I see now. Okay, now how…wait…where…wait…how do I shift? Is there a button that just says “Go”? Am I in a car or a rocket ship?

You get the picture.

If you must know, once I figured it out it was a pretty zippy car, but it had some weird quirks to it.

There’s no deeper moral to that story other than it was about when I was exhausted this summer. You see, stories are powerful even if they don’t have a deeper moral to them. They just serve as illustrations of our shared humanity.

Ah, drat, I guess I did add a deeper moral to that.

Okay, time for bed.
