YOU DON’T NEED LUCK TO BE AN INSPIRING SPEAKER. YOU NEED EXAMPLES, TECHNIQUES, PASSION, AND PRACTICE. YOU ALSO NEED COURAGE – THE COURAGE TO FOLLOW YOUR PASSION, ARTICULATE YOUR IDEAS SIMPLY, AND EXPRESS WHAT MAKES YOUR HEART SING.

SO YOU WANT TO BE A PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER?

๐Ÿ—ฃ You want to be on stage and share your message?

๐Ÿ”ˆ ๐Ÿ”ฅ THAT’S AWESOME! My first question is…are you sure?

Here’s Why It Matters: Being a speaker is quite alluring. Great speakers are like any great professional in their field – they make it look effortless; however, most people don’t consider what it TAKES to be a professional speaker.

This week, I am giving you three realities to consider if you plan to be a professional speaker.

๐ŸšจOh, hey, by the way…if you are a leader in any capacity, you ARE a professional speaker.

๐ŸŽค MIC CHECK: PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER REALITY CHECK

1. Being a professional speaker means… you are a professional. That means you invest time, money, effort, resources, and grit to be a professional speaker. I will make it clear in big, bold letters:

Professional speakers take time to…
๐Ÿ“Š plan
๐Ÿ“š research
๐Ÿงพ outline
๐Ÿฅด rehearse
๐Ÿคช revise
๐Ÿ˜ deliver and…
๐Ÿคช revise again and ๐Ÿคช again and ๐Ÿคช again.

2. Being a professional speaker means… you have a clear message. This may be obvious, but it is one of the least obvious elements of most aspiring public speakers. Again, I will make it clear in big, bold letters.

Professional speakers focus on their topics ๐Ÿค“, their target audience ๐ŸŽฏ, and the talks they can deliver โœ….

3. Being a professional speaker means… you SPEAK. Another obvious statement but most people don’t take opportunities to speak. Well, we are on a roll now, so I will again make it clear in, you guessed it, big, bold letters.

๐ŸŽค If you want to get booked and paid to speak, people must SEE YOU speaking! ๐Ÿ”ˆ

YouTube. Podcasts. Facebook Lives. Video recordings. Whatever it takes. Don’t tell us you are a speaker. SHOW US.

Keep speaking up your story,

WHY SPEAKERS (AND LEADERS) SHOULD ALWAYS RECORD THEMSELVES

Recording yourself isn’t tough. It’s watching the playback that can be cringe-worthy. But here’s the hack – you are your best public speaking coach. Yes, I know that’s bad for business, but the more you record (and watch) your speaking, the more you will improve. Click on the link below to find out more!

THEN THERE WAS THE TIME I BECAME THE BEST IN MY FIELD THROUGH ONE STRATEGY…

This will surprise none of you who know me well, but here it goes: I am competitive. This is the story of how I rose to the top of the oh-so-niche profession of being a professional competitive speaking coach. Click on the link to read what the strategy I used was and how truly unimaginative it is.
